Six Jackson businesses, along with a hard-working civic group, will be honored at the Jackson Area Chamber Of Commerce’s 2018 52nd Annual Appreciation Banquet.
The event will be held Tuesday, October 16 at the Christ United Methodist Church Family Life Center. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour commencing at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and information on tickets is available by calling the chamber office at 740-286-2722 or by emailing email@example.com.
Ohio Valley Bank will be honored as the Business of the Year. A financial presence in Jackson since 1991, the bank’s roots reach back all the way to 1872. They now have a total of 19 branches in eight southern Ohio and West Virginia counties, with a reputation of long being involved in the community.
The Entrepreneur of the Year honoree for 2018 will be Southern Ohio Smiles. The local dentistry office opened in 2010 and moved to its new location on South Street in 2017.
Cultivating Our Future and its leader, Barbie McCathren, will receive this year’s Community Pride Award. This community group has worked to inspire the community through a number of community projects, including Christmas in Manpower Park.
The Beautification Award awardees are Ivy’s Social Salon, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Stockroom 601 and Valley View Health Center.
Five new members to the Chamber over the past 12 months will be also be introduced: Anytime Fitness, Groups (Therapy and Medication for Treating Substance Abuse), Hickory II Apartments, National Church Residences Home Health Care and Hospice, and Priority Mortgage.
Two long-time members will receive special recognition for years of membership with the chamber. Jones-Stephenson Insurance will be honored for 60 years of membership and Giovanni’s Pizza for a half-century of membership.
Others to be introduced for membership in five-year increments will be Callahan Hardware for 115 years, Jackson County Broadcasting & The Telegram 65 years, D & K Vending 55 years, Elemental Refining 45 years; The Shop, Randy Evans Construction and ROMAR Metal Fabricating 35 years.
In addition, Jackson County Board Of Aging, Buckeye Rural Electric, Christ United Methodist Church and the University Of Rio Grande will all be recognized for 25 years; Genesis Home Medical Equipment, Loan Central, Curt and Judy Wiggins, Jon Ondera and Factory Direct Windows, Rent-2-Own, Cardo’s Pizza of Jackson and the Jackson County Health Department 20 years; and Faith Lutheran Church and Farm Credit Services 15 years.
Family Nursing Services, Gallia-Jackson-Vinton RSVP, Jackson Historical Society, Premier Painting, Ricer Equipment, Scioto Valley Association of Realtors and Subway Restaurants will be honored for membership of 10 years; and Circle M Farm, Feed and Supply, The Office Commons, 84 Lumber Company, Jackson County Commissioners, Advanced Services Heating And Cooling, Marlee Factor Foundation and Higgins Steel Roofing five years.
